At last! Having originally booked to travel before Covid – cancelled travel restrictions: re-booked – cancelled not enough takers. Hasan refunded every halfpenny of my money a fact I mention to reassure those who have never travelled with this company that it is 100 percent trustworthy.
Having got that out of the way, on to my review of the Express Bangladesh 18 day tour.
A truly great experience. The hotels were excellent. Hasan’s guidance, flexibility and support were exemplary. Worried about local roads where a 2 lane highway has (at least) 5 lanes of traffic? Don’t worry, the best driver in the country, Arif, is excellent.
So what did we see (there were 3 of us on the trip)? History – some magnificent buildings from the 14th, 15th, & 16th (plus others) centuries: Bangladeshi life – rice & fish markets: Bangladeshis on holiday at Cox’s Bazar. I could go on & on!
Some long drives which was a good way to see the country and coupled with flights back to Dhaka meant the best of both worlds.
The people are lovely, curious but not aggressive – expect endless requests for selfies as tourism is not the norm yet. That can get a bit wearing but a refusal was generally accepted with a good grace.
As someone who doesn’t eat meat I was surprised at the lack of veggie options but it didn’t dim my enthusiasm for this lovely country.
My advice – book early (with Hasan @ Nijhoom Tours) before the rush starts!
