Experience the authentic life of Bangladesh and visit some of its key tourist attractions, including all three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Sundarban mangrove forest, the historic 15th-century city of Bagerhat, and the massive 8th-century Buddhist monastery Somapura Mahavihara. You’ll also see the traditional life in the Ganges Delta, which is entirely based on rivers, explore the best archaeological temples, mosques, and ruins in Rajshahi, explore the highly photogenic backstreets and bazaars in Dhaka, and visit Sonargaon, the old capital of Eastern Bengal, among other things. This tour offers an opportunity to witness the authentic life of a country where tourism has yet to reach, combined with exploring some of its best tourist attractions.

Starting with visiting the key tourist attractions of the megacity of Dhaka, one of the most densely populated cities in the world and an excellent place for street photography, you’ll take an overnight journey on a traditional Bangladeshi passenger ferry to spend two days exploring the backwaters of Barisal, the heart of the Ganges Delta, the world’s largest river delta, and see how people live there, where life is based on water.

Afterward, visit the numerous archaeological mosques at Bagerhat, including the famous Sixty Dome Mosque. Spend three days inside the Sundarban mangrove forest, the largest mangrove forest in the world and home to the Bengal Tigers, river dolphins, saltwater crocodiles, clawless otters, and many species of birds and other wildlife. Spending three days deep inside the forest on our houseboat, exploring its creeks and channels on a silent boat, searching for wildlife, and anchoring in different places each night will be a magical experience.

Moving to the Rajshahi region, you’ll visit some of the best archaeological sites in Bangladesh. Starting with the dilapidated Hindu temples of Puthia, built during the British colonial period in the 18th and 19th centuries, you’ll see the 15th-century Bagha Mosque, the most beautiful terracotta mosque in Bangladesh, and the 16th-century Kusumba Mosque, one of the two stone-built mosques in Bangladesh. You’ll also visit Somapura Mahavihara, the second-largest Buddhist monastery south of the Himalayas from the 8th century. And visit Mahasthangarh, the oldest known city in Bangladesh, dating back to at least the 3rd century B.C. from the Mourian empire. You’ll also visit a Santal tribal village en route and experience the authentic life of this tribal community.

Later, spend a day exploring some bustling backstreets, bazaars, and shipyards of Dhaka, where you’ll get mind-blowing photo opportunities. And visit Sonargaon, the old capital of Eastern Bengal. You’ll visit some remaining archaeological sites from the Old Capital, Panam Nagar, the abandoned city of wealthy Hindu cotton merchants, and a sandbank island of Meghna to experience the traditional life of the farmers before returning home.

If experiencing the traditional life of mainstream people and the smaller communities of a country still unspoiled by tourism interests you, besides visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and some splendid archaeological sites, Classic Bangladesh will be a perfect tour for you.
