I booked a five-day Sunderban tour with Nijhoom Tours in March and thoroughly enjoyed it. With only a few days to add onto a business trip to Bangladesh and no local language skills, solo travel in Bangladesh is not really an option, so joining an organized tour seemed the best bet.
Nijhoom tours were very responsive and helpful from the moment I contacted them. Online payment was seamless and safe. The description of the tour on the website was transparent and accurate – the tour was organized exactly as described. Highlights were the journey on the Rocket paddle steamer, a day tour of the Bagerhat mosques and a three-day cruise of the Sunderban mangrove forest. We even saw fresh tiger footprints!
The guide, Faisal, was very passionate about his job, helpful and reliable. The crew on the Sunderban boat were also very friendly – the food on board was excellent.
If you’ve never traveled in a developing country, this tour probably isn’t for you. There is next to no tourist infrastructure in Bangladesh and things do sometimes go wrong. Don’t expect luxury or five-star accommodation.
However, if you want to explore a country that, as yet, is off the beaten track, with reliable service and a safe tour operator, I would definitely recommend Nijhoom.
