A relatively safe country

When I booked my flight ticket, I totally forgot that Eid festival was a big one for Muslim country like Bangladesh. As I saw one of the item in the itinerary was mentioning about the distribution of stationery to the student in Sonargaon school, my family and friends actually sponsored 100 sets of stationery and I would bring over to them. Before I went, only I found out that it was school holiday and luckily Hasan promised to distribute the next time he goes. Luckily thing was we still managed to see the school and there were a few students left and we just distribute some chocolates to them.

It was a waste that we didn't get to go to the Bara Sardar Bari as it was closed. But overall it was a good journey. We were being followed by some kids and I thought they were like in India chasing us for money, but in Bangladesh they were just out of curiosity on what we were going to do and even used their limited English to say Hi, How are you, Bye.

By right we supposed to book the Old Dhaka tour with Nijhoom but since a lot of attractions will close so we decided to walk ourselves, this would be the first South Asia country we walked freely (of course we felt scare at first too because we were very unfamiliar with this country). But we had no problem locate ourselves around as I did snap some pictures and asked them the direction. When we asked one person, then a group of people will come over and try to help around.

The only thing that we were uncomfortable was everywhere we went they killed the cows and goats in front of us, but we knew that it was their festival so we just ignored it. But we had no problem walking around and even went back to our hotel safely. So basically Bangladesh is a relatively safe country.

Old Dhaka Tour

This Tour is giving a sound experience of old Dhaka City (Assembly Khan monument, old city, Pink Palace, armenian church) while experimenting all kind of transport means (car, rickshaw, boat on the river). Our guide was delivering good history insight with discretion and good manners. We had a very good time with my wife and we warmly recommend this tour.

Nijhoom Tours

I recently returned from the 6 day "Sundarbans Excursion With Rocket" with Nijhoom Tours. I can honestly say this trip far exceeded my expectations. The owner Hasan was very easy to deal with. E mails were promptly answered. He met me at the airport, explained everything and made me feel welcome right away. My guide Arafat was simply outstanding. He accompanied me on the trip and made my tour special. Also he is an outstanding photographer and sent me copies of his pictures. There was so much variety in this trip that it would be hard to explain. The modes of transportation alone were amazing. I was always comfortable and at ease on the trip. Hasan and Arafat made travelling in a difficult country easy. I would recommend this company to anyone with the slightest sense of adventure!

cultural and wildlife tour of Bangladesh

Bangladesh may not be top of everyone's holiday destination list but that's partly why we visited- and we are so glad we did.
We spent a week in the country as part of a month's traveling in South East Asia and it was definitely up there as one of our favorite experiences.
We visited in November 2016 and although some people have been put off by worries about security, we felt perfectly safe particularly in the hands of Nijhoom Tours staff.
Firstly a big thank you to the company owner Hasan. He really couldn't have been more helpful, always responding promptly to the various queries we had in the planning of the trip.
Our guide for the week was Masbah- a terrific guide. With excellent English, he proved to be resourceful, knowledgeable, punctual and a great all round traveling companion.
We began our week with a tour of old and new Dhaka visiting many sights of cultural and historical significance. We loved making our way round Old Dhaka's narrow and colorful streets by rickshaw.
We had hoped to travel down river over night to the Sundarbans by the old steamer, The Rocket, but unfortunately weather prevented any boats traveling that night. Hasan and Masbah were pretty determined that we would make the trip somehow and we eventually managed to get to Mongla by train and car.
We spent the next few days on our own boat called the Seagull. It was much larger than we had imagined with a small crew including a captain, chef, wildlife guide and armed guard. Everyone was so courteous and helpful. Special thanks to Ali our wildlife guide.
The Sundarbans is a remarkable treasure, and we hope it will remain so. We saw salt water crocs, hundreds of birds, monkeys, wild boar, deer and otter. Although we weren't lucky enough to see a tiger we did see fresh footprints so it is clear they are there.
On our return from the Sundarbans we spent a whole day trip to Sonargaon- and that was fascinating too. Much more to it than a visit to what was the old capital. A really excellent day which included a number of stops, a boat trip and visits to three villages on an island to really see local agricultural life.
Bangladesh is a wonderful country, with wonderful people and we would highly recommend it.
